helping each other

As humans we like to have everything all together.  We don't like to look or feel 'weak'. We do not like to ask for help but would rather pretend that we are just fine even to our closest friends. Sometimes even to our Lord. And yet if we see someone in need we feel empathy and really do want to help any way we can.

So why is it so hard to ask for help.  The bible tells us to encourage one another and to help each other if we see another struggling - we are designed to live in community,  we are designed to support and be supported. While God is the source of our strength and comfort and  while of course we should look to Him for help,  It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help or prayer and God often uses people in our lives, people whom he has placed in our lives for a reason.

We all have different gifts, different strengths and we are all on our own paths ordained by God. While we are walking parallel to each other, so we may further the kingdom of heaven, we are all unique and all have our own purpose.

Yes that kind word and smile you gave a stranger did make a difference.  Yes complimenting your colleague on a job well done did make a difference.  Yes the seeds you planted about Gods love and grace did make a difference. God will use all of us and our gifting at just the right time as some will plant seeds, some will water, some will harvest. Whatever your gifting is, use it and never feel it is less than anyone else for we are all one body and all work together for God, guided by His loving hand.

When you need help, prayer should be your first response.  There is nothing better than talking to your loving father and leaving your burdens at His feet.  - pray,  and then ask others to pray with and for you (where two or more are gathered/ in aggreement) talk to your friends and let them use thier giftings to help you- let God use them to help and to encourage you so that when your storm is over you can testify to Gods goodness and faithfulness.
