reverent stillness



"When you are praying,  let there be intervals of silence, reverent stillness of soul, in which you yield yourself to God. Waiting on him should be the honor we give Him." Andrew Murray.

It's been a month since I moved out of my comfortable, northern suburbs loft and actively simplified my life. This plan did not start out quite as I had imagined, but that's usually the best way to grow. Especially as the point was to stop holding so tightly to my own plans and to let God lead me more. I have learnt to humbly accept help.  I have learnt to be still, to avoid the temptation to constanly look at my phone,  to listen more to the prompting of the holy spirit. To pray for people, to talk to people, to listen to people and to hear the whisper of God throughout each day. For it is only in hearing God and growing deeper in relationship with Him that we can truly share His love with others.

My heart was breaking as I sat with a group of young girls who had been through so much more than they should have - more than anyone should have. Yet in the midst of their pain is the love and hope of Jesus. Our Saviour lovingly restores them as their beautiful voices sing praise to Him

I had tears in my eyes when the young man used his baby to get money to buy drugs while his hungry child cried, Yet the love and hope of Jesus is there with him. Our Lord lovingly shows him a way out of the darkness.

I was saddened when a woman told me she had left her abusive husband for fear of her life and now feels unloveable. Yet the love and hope of Jesus is carrying her, leading her to a deeper relationship with Him, showing her how beautiful she is and how much she is loved by the creator of the universe.

I am sure Jesus weeps with us. He loves us all more than we can possibly imagine. If it breaks my heart to listen to people (who I don't even really know) share their life stories, I can only imagine how much it grieves Jesus - He knows us all intimately. He is there in every moment. In every decision. In every trial and triumph. Jesus is with us always. Tune your heart to His and let him direct your steps. Let each challenge you face increase your dependency on God and deepen your faith. Walk through the door of hope God provides and embrace the love of Jesus.

I saw eagles rising up and flying over South Africa. Singing unique sounds, united as one voice. As they sang and flew higher, feathers were falling, weighted by gold dust/glitter, they landed on South Africa. I was reminded, that we carry the very DNA of heaven, we are created IN HIS IMAGE. What we decree and declare releases heavenly DNA over our land. We are created to overflow - living water! As the gold dust and feathers touched the earth, the earth became full and the words we spoke began to take root, other eagle songs released "character words" that grew, multiplied and were fruitful. Be equally yoked.

The last few weeks I have had numerous discussions with various friends about dating non-Christians. Until recently I have been all for it - my reasoning - well you never know what God is doing and how or when He is going to soften peoples hearts and draw them near to Him. Sure I have always believed that you need someone similar to you, someone who has biblical qualities like integrity, is respectful of your beliefs and boundaries, is a good communicator etc. but I didn’t feel they really had to be totally sold out on God just because I am. Each to their own and hopefully one day they will come to know the lord. Early this year I went through a storm where I did not tell even my closest friends for a couple of weeks.
