It's been five and a half months since I packed up my house, simplified my life and began to actively seek God first, in everything I do. Five months since I felt led to travel our beautiful country, to live my passion, to listen for the prompting of the holy spirit and step forward in faith at every opportunity - consciously using my talents and giftings to glorify God. Obviously my perfectly boxed little plan that I had in my head, when I felt led to do this - is not at all how God saw this - and that's a good thing. I found that to much 'boxing and planning' limits growth and opportunity - sometimes you grow where you're planted and sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone like a tree that gets root bound in a little pot but grows and is fruitful if replanted.  So far it has been an amazing journey. I have learnt that God can (and absolutely will) use us anywhere and everywhere if we simply listen. It's been a month since I moved out of my comfortable, northern suburbs loft and actively simplified my life. This plan did not start out quite as I had imagined, but that's usually the best way to grow. Especially as the point was to stop holding so tightly to my own plans and to let God lead me more. I have learnt to humbly accept help.  I have learnt to be still, to avoid the temptation to constanly look at my phone,  to listen more to the prompting of the holy spirit. To pray for people, to talk to people, to listen to people and to hear the whisper of God throughout each day. For it is only in hearing God and growing deeper in relationship with Him that we can truly share His love with others. As humans we like to have everything all together.  We don't like to look or feel 'weak'. We do not like to ask for help but would rather pretend that we are just fine even to our closest friends. Sometimes even to our Lord. And yet if we see someone in need we feel empathy and really do want to help any way we can. So why is it so hard to ask for help.  The bible tells us to encourage one another and to help each other if we see another struggling - we are designed to live in community,  we are designed to support and be supported. While God is the source of our strength and comfort and  while of course we should look to Him for help,  It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help or prayer and God often uses people in our lives, people whom he has placed in our lives for a reason. For a couple of years now I have been feeling like I should be doing more. I have had an idea on my heart that I believe is from God, but it has just seemed to big and possibly a bit silly for someone my age, someone like me. So instead, I have listened to society's expectations and felt like a failure for not 'fitting in' and for not being 'successful'. Even though God has designed us to stand out. Even though success is to simply be obedient to God. To shine His light and to love and serve others in whatever way we can. I have prayed and told God I would listen, if he opened the doors - but I never really let Him. While I said the words, I refused to take a leap of faith and instead kept trying to bargain with God - almost like I will do that Lord, if you will do this for me. :) And as gracious as our Lord is, He has kept me moving slowly along the path, He has reignited a passion for seeking Him and his word. A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post called deep water, about seeking and holding onto God, whatever season you are in. So many people are hurting and going through a difficult time and can relate to the post and so I thought I would write a part two. .. "Hold it all together, everybody needs you strong. But life hits you out of nowhere and barely leaves you holding on, and when you're tired of fighting,  chained by your control. There is freedom in surrender. Lay it down and let it go. So when you're on your knees and answers seem so far away, you're not alone, stop holding on and just be held. Your worlds not falling apart its falling into place. God has created each of us as individuals,  there is only one YOU. No one else can live out the calling on your life in the same way. God has given you incredible giftings and filled your heart with passsion. What drives you, what breaks your heart, what prompts you to step up and action the love you feel? Sometimes we need to do more than speak about things, we need to listen to the prompting of the holy spirit,  be led by God and step out of our comfort zone, knowing full well that our loving Lord will go with us wherever he leads. I love hearing people's life stories and testimonies and letting the holy spirit minister to people. I love seeing people who suddenly, really grasp , just how much they are loved and how Gods love is totally unconditional. How we are His beloved ...
